Getting Out Of The Swimming Pool!!!!

This are excerpts from a mail that came from a very good friend.
A wise friend.
A friend that listens and cares.
A friend that I grateful to have.
Thanks Amalia.

*****************
"Jumping in the swimming pool is just not enough."

Reading your last post...
and remembering our conversation on the beach in Setubal...

Life... water... jump...

You brought me a new perspective on life...
or maybe it wasn´t new for me, it was there inside me, but it wasn´t materialized yet...

I always had a strong connection with water.
I think about my soul in terms of water.
At first I was identifying myself with the Danube, then it was the sea, the Black Sea, and now I am becoming the Ocean...

And besides this spiritual connection with the water, there is the physical connection, when my body is yearning for the water´s touch, for swimming, for that feeling of being lighter , for that feeling of freedom...

And when I´m touch with water, it´s also my soul that is being touched... it´s like... what comes around goes around...

...soul ...water ...body   ...   body... water... soul...

But where do I want to get with all this...
You are talking about swimming pool...

I see this like...
You created your own world, which is the swimming pool...
and you keep on jumping in your own world, you want to stay inside and learn how to swim...
I think you already know how to swim in your own swimming pool...
don´t you think that it´s time to get out and throw yourself in the Ocean...

Waters are connected,
the river goes into the sea,
and the sea goes in to the ocean,
they are in a permanent connection,
from the bottom of the ocean you can reach the mint of the river,
and then go back...

And it´s good to have your own world,
everybody has it,
but you need to be connected with all that the real world can offer.

You need to let your world interact with other people´s world,
you don´t have to drag people into your swimming pool...

And you know that water has this property to purify itself...
a swimming pool can´t do that...
a swimming pool has to be emptied, cleaned and then refilled with fresh water...
but how many times a soul can take this...
the true feeling of transformation is when the soul is purifying itself...
like a natural phenomenon...
just like the ocean´s waters.

So if u are searching for something, whatever that might be...
don´t keep on swimming in your swimming pool,
you already know how to swim,
go and swim into the ocean...

endless possibilities are floating there...

So, what do you say ?

*******************
I say I think you got it right...
I say I don't really know where the Ocean is...
I say I want to go there...
I say I will find my way out of my swimming pool...
I say Thanks...
I say Thanks a lot!

I have to choose a great song, and David Cook just rocked in this version of "The World I Know" originally by Collective Soul.
Here you have the url of the video.

Has our conscience shown?
Has the sweet breeze blown?
Has all the kindness gone?
Hope still lingers on.
I drink myself of newfound pity
Sitting alone in new york city
And I don't know why.

Are we listening to hyms of offering?
Have we eyes to see that love is gathering?
All the words that Ive been reading
Have now started the act of bleeding into one.

So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world below.
And I laugh at myself
As the years roll down.
cause its the world I know.
Its the world I know.

Again, Are You Scared To Fall In Love???

It seems we keep going back to the same place.
We get excited and try hard to move on,
to meet new people,
to skip the rules we have been following...

And,
in that very moment,
we feel some fresh air caressing our faces...

And without noticing,
we give up!
We believe it is done.
We believe we have made it.
We stupidly believe we have learned!

Trying is just not enough.
Jumping in the swimming pool is just not enough.

I need to stay inside,
until I learn how to swim.

I am jumping now.
Again.

I know there is somebody outside there that will take me the way I am.

Here is the video url.

If you were falling,
then I would catch you.
You need a light,
I’d find a match.

Cuz I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.

If you are chilly,
here take my sweater.
Your head is aching,
I’ll make it better.

Cuz I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.

I’d buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.

Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.

You take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.

Too Much TO DOs Pending In Your Life???!!

Lately, I have started to get overwhelmed by the amount of TO DOs in my life...

I decided to give a time for thought to that fact and google a couple of stuff...
Nothing interesting...

Then I went to Youtube, and there is was!!
A Piece Of Art!!!

I am not sure how much it gave me in terms of what I was looking for, however it did worth it to dedicate six minutes to watch this animated film about yellow post-it notes and the experience of the realizer with them.

Enjoy.

It Seems I Always Arrive Late!!!

Well there it goes, another opportunity that I don't have the guts to take when it is supposed to be taken.

I suck!
I take too much time to tell someone that I am interested, and they move on, faster than ever...
So next time it will be...

This is the video url.

Here I go again I promised myself I wouldn't think of you today
It's been seven months and counting
You've moved on
I still feel exactly the same
It's just that everywhere I go all the buildings know your name
Like photographs and memories of love
Steel and granite reminders
The city calls your name and I can't move on

Ever since you've been gone
The lights go out the same
The only difference is
You call another name
To your love
To your lover now
To your love
The lover after me

Am I all alone in the universe?
There's no love on these streets
I have given mine away to a world that didn't want it anyway
So this is my new freedom
It's funny
I don't remember being chained
But nothing seems to make sense anymore
Without you I'm always twenty minutes late

Ever since you've been gone
The lights go out the same
The only difference is
You call another name
To your love
To your lover now
To your love
The lover after me

And time goes by so slowly
The nights are cold and lonely
I shouldn't be holding on
But I'm still holding on for you

Here I go again
I promised myself I wouldn't think of you today
But I'm standing at your doorway
I'm calling out your name because I can't move on

Ever since you've been gone
The lights go out the same
The only difference is
You call another name
To your love
To your lover now
To your love
The lover after me

Have You Had Happy Endings???!!!

This song has nothing to do with what I feeling, or what's happening to me.
I just got to listen to it and LOVED IT!!!
I have been listing to it the whole day, so I thought
- Hey why not sharing it in your blog?

Voila, here you have...
Happy Ending by Mika
Here the url of the video.

This is the way you left me,
I'm not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.

This is the way that we love,
Like it's forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.

Wake up in the morning,
stumble on my life
Can't get no love without sacrifice
If anything should happen,
I guess I wish you well
A little bit of heaven,
but a little bit of hell

This is the hardest story that I've ever told
No hope, or love, or glory
Happy endings gone forever more
I feel as if I'm wasted
And I'm wastin' every day

This is the way you left me,
I'm not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.

This is the way that we love,
Like it's forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.

2 o'clock in the morning,
something's on my mind
Can't get no rest;
keep walkin' around
If I pretend that nothin' ever went wrong,
I can get to my sleep
I can think that we just carried on

This is the hardest story that I've ever told
No hope, or love, or glory
Happy endings gone forever more
I feel as if I'm wasted
And I'm wastin' every day

This is the way you left me,
I'm not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.

This is the way that we love,
Like it's forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.

A Little bit of love,
little bit of love
Little bit of love,
little bit of love

I feel as if I'm wasted
And I waste everyday

This is the way you left me,
I'm not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.

This is the way that we love,
Like it's forever.
To live the rest of our life,
But not together.

Have You Really Enjoyed A Book Of Paulo Coelho???!!!

He is celebrating the 100 Million copies sold!

He is inviting us to take part on his virtual exhibition.

Dear readers,

I wish to make a virtual exhibition for the 100 Million Copies sold.
And invite you to participate.

Based on an idea that I saw in an exhibition in Aviles - dedicated to the 20th anniversary of my book The Alchemist - I would like to extend it to the virtual space and invite you to take part.

The idea of this physical exhibition that I saw in Aviles (and that will be reproduced in Milan this week) is the following: a reader would pose for a picture holding his/her favorite book of mine.

Please then take a picture of yourself holding your favorite book of mine and send to us.

You should include in your email your name and country and send it to the following email address:

paulocoelhocovers@gmail.com (don’t worry about the quality).

My team will be up-loading the pictures in this page throughout the year.

Love

Paulo

Have You Gone On A Date Lately??!!

It is funny, in the last two weeks I have gone to 4 dates...
I am not sure if I should call them dates...
Or meetings...
Or get to know me outside of your screen...
Or whatever...

I have just decided to call them dates.

They range from the typical cinema-dinner/dinner-cinema, to the dinner-party type.

They have been all cool.
Really cool...

What I am not sure dough is what is next?
What it is supposed to happen now?
Should I call back?
What for?
Should I want for a second call?
What for?

I am not even sure anymore if the goal is to go on a date or something else.

Yes, I do have sent a couple of messages after.
Yes, I do have gotten responses.
No, I don't know where this will go, if anywhere.

And, IT DOES NOT MATTER.

I have had a great time.
Thanks guys.
Very much.

No pick up lines.
No weirdo stuff.
Just a couple of cool guys having fun, having dinner, watching a movie, partying hard...
Life is great and smiles me all the time.
I smile back.

I am very much looking forward to the future.

What's Your Identity??!!

Many times in life we face this question.

Questions such as:

Who am I?
Where do I stand in life today?
Where in life am I today?
Where am I heading?

seem to form part of that discovery that makes us grow, that makes us find more about ourselves at each step, every day...

It is funny that after Ernie's and Jarda's visits I got a bit confused concerning these questions.

With these two friends, among other close people in my life, we use to create our space for powerful and deep conversations that allow us to answer those questions and perceive how much have we changed as individuals and how much it is still there - unmoved, helping us out to discover the true colors of our essence.

I got a bit confused when I was not able to answer these questions in the "profound" way!

Jarda asked me: "Who are YOU?"
and then I said: "I am Dey... That's it, just that, Dey..."

There was no space for further elaboration in the answer.
That answer just made me happy.
I felt the answer was complete.

Then he asked me: "Where are you?" (in life...)
and my answer was: "I am in Lisbon"

Again, no need to say that I am in a trasformation process, or in a transition process, or finding out who I am, or anything!
Just that, I am in Lisbon...
Happily in Lisbon must I add.

I don't know how long this is going to last.
I don't know what is next.
I don't care!

This is such a liberating feeling.

I do not take work home.
I do not over work.
I do my work excellently and I love it!
I love what I do!
I got a dog and that has transformed my life style.
I workout four days a week.
I am healthier.
I party hard every friday.
I have a great place with great flatmates.
I am ready for a partner.

There is so much more I could add.
However that is not the purpose of this post.

I guess that there is a moment in life when your idenity is so fundamentaly part of who you are that you do not need to questions it for a while - I will not feel comfortable saying 'anymore'.

I am living the present.
I am Dey and live in Lisbon.
That is my identity today.
And I smile when I say so!

Get In Touch With Old Friends!!!

Thanks to a very good friend (CAT) I got to see this video for the first time...

It is the story of Christian, a lion...

This is the video url for my turkish friends and any other unable to see it in my blog.

From the YouTube info on the video:

Although Christian hadn't been seen for months, he appeared at the Kora Reserve the night before Ace & John arrived in Africa.

"Christian arrived last night, " George said simply.

"He's here with his lionesses and his cubs. He's outside the camp on his favourite rock. He's waiting for you."

Both George & Joy Adamson believed that lions were possessed of a sixth sense and George was convinced that a scientific explanation would one day be found.

Christian left the Kora Reserve in 1973.

He made his new territory along the Tana river, but when the Wakamba herdsmen kept bringing their livestock to his hunting ground, he moved on.

George Adamson said in his autobiography, "I used to count the days on which we hadn't seen Christian, but when they reached 97, I gave up recording them in my diary."

Because a lion can live from 12 to 15 years in the wild, Adamson believed that Christian ended his days in the Meru National Reserve only a few miles up river.

I will follow the video's advice.
I am contacting very beloved friends I have not contacted in a while.
I am doing so NOW!

Don't you suddenly feel that urge?
Act now, later you will forget.
Because you will forget, you may not regret you did not.
But you will definitely lose a good chance to feel the power of millions of starts crossing your body when you get an answer to your message from that beloved long time not seen friends.
Life does not give too many chances to stop and think about it, write a couple of lines and send them.

Let love flow.

Life Is Too Short

We hear this all the time...
It has become a common sense...
A cheesy line...

But I do need to be reminded.
Here is a piece of Stuart Knight Newletter of today.
It was perfect!
Again.

Right time.
Right message...

Life is too short to not make that phone call,
drive that car,
jumpoff that diving board,
quit that job,
kiss that stranger,
take that extra drink,
take that course,
take yourself out on a date,
take that chance,
take that vacation,
take that compliment,
take that pain,
take that advice and to take life by the balls!

Don't wait for the weekend,

don't wait for the right pay cheque,
don't wait for the stars to be aligned,
don't wait for your body to look a certain way,
don't wait for the right weather,
the right year or
the right person to come along.

Faces of Millions

Through my network of friends I came across a funky project called "Faces of Millions".

"Faces of Millions is a project which aims to create a biggest yet photo mosaic, that will be about 30x30ft big (approx. 10x10m or 3 stories high).

It will be made of about 300 usual size posters, which will have fingernail size photos of YOU, YOUR FRIENDS and all the OTHER PEOPLE who take part (about million of them)."

The only thing you need to do to support the project is to send your pic.

How cool is that?

People that you invite in their facebook group and submit their picture, will be places around you...

And How Cool Is That?

Take a look at their website at www.facesofmillions.com

You can also join the facebook group here.

In the meanwhile, I went out last weekend and tried to use the pick up lines you guys suggested me. I was so excited about it, that I got over drunk (well I am not sure that was the reason why I got drunk, but I did...).

I dont know if the pick up lines worked or not.
So, unfortunately there is not much to report about.
Sorry.
Next weekend will it be.
I guess I need to be less worried about the output and more focus on the task!
(Bad joke)

As Paolo Nutini says in his song:

"we're distracted by the hard times
and the troubles that we make
let us throw them in the ocean
let it wash our cares away

I also got to know by one of my Turkish friends that they got banned youtube in their country (WHAT!!!??? - Yeap... Unfortunately that is still happening in this world...) They cannot see the videos I post in my blog, but they have found a way around to watch them if they have the url of the video in youtube.

So, here is the url for this video.

Paolo Nutini - Million Faces

owh the phone you know it never stops
it's the last thing I hear at night
and the first thing in the morning
and as I let it start to burn my head
you slowly creep into bed
and I'm done with all the talking
you say you know how I'm feeling
I just need to try to settle down

owh a million faces pass my way
owh they are all the same
nothing seems to change anytime I look around
owh who knows just what the future hold
sall I want to know is if it's with you

tired as hell and falling up the stairs
filled with a thousand cares
as you walk out from the bedroom
though it feels like all my fire has gone
girl you just turn me on
can't believe how much I want you
you say you know how I'm feeling
I just need to try to settle down

owh a million faces pass my way
owh they are all the same
nothing seems to change anytime I look around
owh who knows just what the future holds
all I want to know is if it's with you

we're distracted by the hard times
and the troubles that we make
let us throw them in the ocean
let it wash our cares away
let it wash our cares away

owh a million faces pass my way
owh they are all the same nothing seems

owh who knows just what the future holds
all I want to know is if it's with you

Pick Up Lines For The W-end!!!

This is just unbelievable...

I went out two days ago and a guy approached me and told me:

"People like you should fuck people like me..."
and he winked...

He did not look bad at all...
Actually quite a hunk...
The truth is, I am not looking for a a model neither, that will never work, model types are inconsistent by nature.
I just want to meet a cute 'next door' type boysh guy.

What I really liked was the attitude he projected when spelling the sentence and the tone he used...
Kinda confident attitude behind the statement...

So, I looked at him - with a lost look - and said:
"How many times have you said that tonight?"

He replied:
"Why?"

I said:
"If more than once, then it is not working..." - I stand up and added - "I need a drink, cheers..."

I felt his eyes on my back, and all over my tanned body while I was walking to the bar.
I kept on feeling his warm look - I need to be pretentiuos - the rest of the night...

I am planning to be more agressive in my approach to meet a potential partner, so I am going out all for it this weekend.

I am still not sure if I should steal and use that line this weekeend, what do you think?
Will I be penalized to just watch?
Or it should actually work?

Leave me a comment with your opinion - you can also suggest pick up lines for me to use :)
I promise I will update the results here next monday :)

Wish me luck...
...and loads of star dust - as a friend of mine always says.

Why Your Life - And Mine - Is The Way It Is??!!

Excerpt from a Stuart Knight Newsletter.

Life is nothing more than a definition.

More specifically, ourlives unfold based on the way that we expect them to unfold.

If we think that there is a certain amount of joy that we are allowed to experience, if we think that love has a limit, if we think that sex has rules, if we think that religion plays a role in the grand scheme of things, if we think that our jobs are just jobs and if we think that friendship is defined by the number of years that we've known each other then that's exactly how our lives will unfold.

About You and Me, and Everybody Else, Making Magic Happen!!!

This is an excerpt from an article from July 2007...

I just got the link to the video from a Venezuelan friend and had to post it here.
This kids come from very poor conditions and they are given with a chance,
and they do make magic!!!

Most of us, we are given with so much more.
Are we making magic happen??!!

Carol Main meets Gustavo Dudamel, the young maestro behind the world renowned Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra, which has transformed the lives of many underprivileged young people in its native Venezuela

‘If he wasn’t in the orchestra, he would have been killed by now.’ Not a flippant remark, but a realistic statement of fact by one young musician about another in a country where gang crime and drug violence are commonplace.

That the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela is a saviour of life, not only in terms of mortality, but also in the day to day living for children and young people, is a claim that is supported by all who play in it, hear it or are touched by it in a myriad of ways.

The 200-strong group that will appear in Edinburgh is the top tier of a pyramid of
musical activity.

‘El sistema’, as the 32-year-old programme is known, reaches out to impoverished areas in a country whose reliance on oil makes for a shaky economy.

Have You Ever Dreamed Of Traveling The World??!!

I have!

I did dream about it since I was a very little kid.
My mother used to give us books as presents more than toys or cloths.
In this way my sister and I learned that the world was bigger than our little town Rubio.

During our childhood our parents took us to Portugal and then to Spain.
Later on we continue the trek by ourselves...
Sometimes together, sometimes alone, sometimes with other people.
But always on the way...

Today I live in Lisbon and my sister in Toronto.
My parents still in Venezuela, they moved to a even smaller town dough...

My dream came true.
I traveled the world.
I have been in 68 countries!!!
(71 one now that three of them have split and I was in cities of what now are two countries! However I keep on saying 68)
And I continue traveling.
The truth is that new countries are harder to reach now.
I even work in a venture that will allow people to go there, to those small local communities and get a taste of what life in a small town can be.

Few days ago, randomly as always, I got to watch a video that made the most deep cells of my body tremble.

This is the story of Matt.
This is the story of Where The Hell Is Matt??

The video inspired me to continue.
The music is just unique.
His story, amazing!

Take a look at the video and visit his website, it deserves to be visited and to be read.

14 months in the making, 42 countries, and a cast of
thousands.

Thanks to everyone who danced with me.
Matt.

Of happiness.
